Why buy Audi J518 ESL ELV Motor?
The ESL ELV Motor module is a part of vehicle’s steering column.  Module failure is a common issue in Audi 2005-2011 A6/S6 and 2007-2015 Q7 model vehicles.  The issue is typically identified by no start and no response from key in the ignition, or proximity access (Start button).
The Start / Stop Authorization Module (along with the Electronic Ignition Switch) is responsible for key/transponder recognition, unlocking/locking of steering wheel and powering up all modules in the vehicle.
If there is an issue with any of the lock module components (actuator motor, sensing micro switches, relay) or the integrated Immobilizer system Microprocessor/PCB, the module will not provide power to Terminal 15 (ignition on).  End result, no ignition and no engine start.
The module will typically store “00288 – Steering Column Lock Actuator (N360) – Defective” fault.

Notice: 
 – Please note that while actuator motor failure is common, it does not necessarily mean a 100% fix for module related issues.
Changing only the actuator motor may or may not resolve the actual problem.  There are other problematic components within the module that may fail and result in fault code “00288 – Steering Column Lock Actuator (N360) – Defective”.

AUDI A6 Q5 ESL/ ELV Module J518 repair solution & repair kits

AUDI steer column Module – J518 is easy been damaged, it’s a common problem, when the J518 Module is failure, the following problems will occurred when insert the key:

1. Steer column will not be unlocked;
2. Car will not start;
3. Dashboard can not be light up.

But the key can rotate normally.

Repair solutions:

1. Dismantle the J518 Module form the car, open it, use XPROG read the MCU, there are three kind of MCU Model exist:

— MC9S12DG256CFUE OL01Y;

— MC9S12DG128CFUE 1L59W;

— MC9S12DG128CFU 3L40K;

Read both the flash and eeprom dump from the MCU and saved on desktop,

2. Buy new MCU , as the MCU is new and blank, use the XPROGwrite the dump been saved in the first step in to the new MCU, then solder back on the J518 circuit board.
3. Change the Relays Model No: ACT512;
4. Better change the micro switch and the ELV motor as well.
5. If the J518 circuit board is burned or badly damaged, or don’t want to do time -comsuming soldering work, better change a new blank circuit board.
6. Attention: When change the MCU, Desoldering the MCU, please mind the small resistors beside the MCU, The hot air gun may damaged the resistor, please be carful.if the MCU is totally damaged and can not read the dump out, ask some one to share a dump, after write into the new MCU or new blank circuit board, use device to do adapting work.Thanks for reading!
